Die Dithyrambs wurden 1989 in der Formation Bass, Gitarre/Gesang, Keyboard, Schlagzeug gegründet. Die anfänglichen Einflüsse, die für die Gruppe auch bis heute von Bedeutung geblieben sind, kamen vornehmlich aus der psychedelischen Ära, dem energetischsten Rock der 60'/70' Jahre und dem damals populären Thrash Metal.
Ihre Stücke sind Eigenkompositionen; geschrieben von Andrea Pacini und in Gemeinschaftsarbeit der Band arrangiert.
