Solo debut by Chicago based musician Kathleen Baird. She's a member of Comus-channeling outfit SPIRES THAT IN THE SUNSET RISE and she has shared bills with the Incredible Stringband, Comets On Fire, Acid Mothers Temple and many others. Her singular voice and deft musicianship put her alongside other women of the latest folk revival. On this release replaces her hysterical ecstacy with a slower, slyer and subtler tone. Her voice is deep, sleepy and Nico-esque, her instrumentation loose and imaginative. The lush and exotic arrangements include bells, marimba, guitars, flutes, synthesizers etc, all orchestrated to outline her careful but never fussy songcraft.
