1979 war das Motörhead-Jahr - das Jahr des »Overkill«. Motörhead, die lauteste Band der Welt, zerstörten mit der Kraft und Wucht von hundert Pressluftbohrern die Nation, immer und immer wieder, und niemand blieb von ihnen unberührt.
Das Album »Overkill« war stärker als ihr erstes Album »Motörhead«, das an sich schon ein Killer war. Die Produktion lag in den fähigen Händen eines gewissen Jimmy Miller, der bereits mit Bands wie den Rolling Stones erfolgreich war. Er holte das Beste aus den Jungs heraus, »Overkill« ist voll von echten Knallern und enthält die Hit-Singles »Overkill« und »No Class«. Das ist Motörhead: geradliniger, grundlegender, bodenständiger Rock'n'Roll, der absolut keine Grenzen kennt
